Aptos Village Apartment Landscape Project

Resident courtyard landscaping installed by K&D Landscaping with seating areas and decorative plantings

Clean Commercial Execution in a Coastal Village Setting

Aptos Village is a residential apartment community in Aptos, CA, where the landscape needed to support the scale of the development while still feeling right for the surrounding coastal village setting.

With a $250K project budget, K&D carried the commercial landscape scope through planting, irrigation, finish details, and coordination around buildings, walkways, entries, and shared residential spaces. The work had to fit the construction schedule, install cleanly, and leave the property ready for residents from day one.

The project later earned a Silver Award at the 2025 NALP Awards, a reflection of the coordination, detail, and execution behind the work.

The Scope

K&D supported the commercial landscape installation for the Aptos Village apartments in Aptos, CA.

The work has included:

Commercial landscape construction

Site planting and landscape layout

Irrigation installation and coordination

Planting around apartment buildings, entries, and walkways

Groundcover, mulch, and finish details

Coordination around sidewalks, access points, and shared residential areas

Final landscape presentation for turnover

The Challenge

Apartment communities have to feel finished from the first day residents move through them.

The landscape sits close to buildings, sidewalks, entries, windows, parking areas, and shared spaces people use every day. That means the work has to be clean, coordinated, and sensitive to how residents, visitors, and maintenance teams will move through the property after turnover.

K&D had to carry the landscape scope through with schedule awareness, field coordination, and attention to the finish details that shape the first impression of a new residential community.

The K&D Approach

K&D approached the project with the structure commercial construction requires and the care a resident-facing property deserves: steady coordination, organized sequencing, and finish details that support how people use the site every day.

The team focused on:

  • Keeping the landscape scope aligned with the broader construction schedule

  • Installing planting, irrigation, mulch, and finish details cleanly around the buildings

  • Coordinating work near walkways, entries, access points, and shared spaces

  • Making the landscape feel natural to the Aptos Village setting

  • Carrying the installation through to a clean, complete handoff

The Result

The finished landscape helped Aptos Village feel complete, cared for, and ready for residents.

Planting, irrigation, mulch, and finish details softened the apartment buildings, framed the walkways and entries, and gave the property a clean residential feel that fit its coastal village setting. For K&D, the win was in the execution: a coordinated commercial installation with a clean handoff and a finished property that reflected the standard behind the work.
