Frequently asked questions

Are these numbers a quote?

No. They are ranges from completed projects, rounded and date-stamped. Your quote comes after a site visit, and it is itemized so you can see exactly where the money goes.

Does every project need a design?

Yes. Every K&D project starts with a design, because the drawings and material selections are what keep the build on budget. Design runs $3,000 to $10,000 depending on scope, and that cost is already part of the range you see here.

How does the size field work?

For area-based features such as patios, planting, and turf, the range is calculated from the size you enter at a per square foot rate (per linear foot for walls and fencing) drawn from projects we have built, with a minimum job size. If your project is much larger than our typical job for that feature, the page will say so and a designer can price it properly.

Why is the range so wide on some features?

Decking is a good example. A small landing and a full multi-level deck with built-in seating are both “decking,” and they cost very different amounts. The middle half of our projects is the honest answer, and the design conversation narrows it fast.

Do you work in my area?

We design and build in Santa Cruz County, Monterey County, San Luis Obispo County, and Santa Clara County including San Jose and the greater Silicon Valley. Prices here reflect all of those markets together.

Is there a minimum project size?

Our design-build work starts at $10,000 and runs past $1 million for estate-scale builds. If your project is smaller than $10,000, we are not the right fit, and we would rather tell you now than waste your time.

How often are these numbers updated?

Every quarter. The date at the bottom of the page tells you when the ranges were last refreshed, and a member of our estimating team reviews every number before it goes live.

Price ranges on this page are drawn from K&D Landscaping residential design-build projects completed between 2021 and 2026, rounded to the nearest thousand, and show the 25th to 75th percentile of projects that included each feature. Size-based estimates use per-unit rates calibrated to those projects. They are provided for planning purposes only and do not constitute a quote, offer, or guarantee of price. Every project is priced individually after a site visit. Ranges last updated October 20, 2026.
